Quick Recap : Day 7

We are reaching the business end of the Australian open and the intensity of tennis is raising by the day.

The draw on the women’s seed is wide open with many pre tournament favourite biting the dust before the 4th round. The Australian fans still have so much to look forward to with World number one Ash Barty continuing her good run of form with a victory in the fourth round over Alison Riske. Last year’s runner up Petra Kvitova also moved to the quarter finals. Qiang Wang, who knocked out Serena Williams, could not continue her winning run, losing to Ons Jabeur. Coco Gauff also lost her fourth round match against fellow compatriot Sofia Kenin.

There were some interesting matches lined up on the men’s side as well. Diego Schwartzman could not pose a challenge to Novak Djokovic, who looked in scintillating form. Milos Raonic registered another straight sets victory in the tournament, beating Marin Cilic. The big serving Canadian, who is yet to lose a set, will now meet the defending champion in the last 8. Tennys Sandgren came through a tough match against Fabio Fognini, there by setting up a last 8 clash with Roger Federer. The Swiss maestro started slow in his 4th round match, but found his groove in the second set and romped to victory against Marton Fucsovics.
