First up, on the men’s side, Stan Wawrinka came through a tough 5 setter against the gritty Italian, Andreas Seppi. American Taylor Fritz came back from 2 sets down to register a victory against Kevin Anderson. An almist 5 hour marathon on court 3 resulted in Karen Khachanov beating Mikael Ymer by the slimmest of margins. Nick Kyrgois progressed safely to the next round with a resounding victory against the dangerous Gilles Simon. Number one seed Rafael Nadal breezed through to round 3. It was his caring kiss to the ball girl he accidentally hit though, that went viral on social media.

On the women’s side, Belinda Bencic beat Jelena Ostapenko in a tough match that somehow ended in straight sets. No other major upsets were registered on the women’s side with all the top seeds in action progressing to the next round.
